Poroton Tools

Cutting
The preferred method of cutting a Thermoplan block is by an Alligator type saw such as the DeWalt DW390 (L). These are generally available through good Tool Hire Outlets – alternatively we can on occasion sell you a saw that can be used for the duration of the project and sold on.
On larger projects a Diamond blade bench saw for block cutting is the best option – again these are available to rent through good Tool Hire Outlets.

Chasing
For the cutting of channels for electrical services a twin wheel Diamond Wall chaser should be used first to create the required channels to the correct depth – the core of the channel can then be broken out using a wide faced bolster. Wall Chasers are available from good Tool Hire Outlets.

Mortar Mixing
The thin bed mortar should be mixed in a clean 30L bucket using a double-blade mixing tool such as a Collomix DLX 150. This will ensure a smooth consistency. Mixing Tools available from good Tool Hire Outlets.

Mortar Roller
The use of a VD Block System mortar roller ensures an even layer of mortar for the block work. These are available to rent or buy from us in three sizes to suit the construction width.
